GVS Fundraising

Picture
‘We cannot possibly do without the WRVS'- said Lady Martin  in June 1975 as she opened a garden fête  organised by the WRVS. The fête was held to raise funds for a new headquarters and day centre for older people. These goals were achieved with the opening of the original Jubilee Day Centre and later the purpose built facility in Grandes Maisons Road . The GVS must continue to raise considerable funds each year to underwrite the work that it does.  There is a fundraising committee made up of volunteers who organise a number of events during the year.  The diversity of these events ensure that there is sure to be something that will appeal.

The fundraising committee are always looking for new fundraising ideas and initiatives so if you can help with ideas, or would like to join the team or even volunteer to help at an individual event please do not hesitate to contact GVS Headquarters we would love to hear from you.

For details of forthcoming fundraising events please see our calendar.

GVS 100 Club
The GVS 100 Club was launched in October 2014 and is a monthly fundraising lottery with cash prizes every month.  All proceeds from the GVS 100 Club, after payment of prizes, will go towards the running costs of GVS.  As you may be aware, we have to raise approximately £50,000 per annum to be able to offer our all of our current services including Meals on Wheels in Guernsey and Alderney, The Jubilee and Russels Day Centres, Blood Donor calling at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, The Darby and Joan Clubs in Guernsey and Alderney, GVS Good Companions and much more.

The cost of a ticket is only £5 per month (annual cost of £60) and there is a monthly draw on the 15th of each month. Initially there will be monthly prizes of 1 x £100 and 2 x £50 with a Christmas bonus prize of £250  (per each 100 tickets sold) . Prizes will increase pro rata as more tickets are sold. Tickets can be bought by filling in the application form and the standing order – there is no limit to the number of tickets you can buy although one application form is required for each ticket.  You can also buy a ticket as a gift for someone else (providing they are over the age of 16) – perhaps as a Christmas present giving them the chance of winning cash prizes?  Payment can only be made by annual or monthly standing order and must be for a minimum of a 12 month period.  Cash prizes will be paid out monthly.

Additional forms and the full rules can be obtained by:-

·         downloading from our website www.gvs.org.gg or

·         sending an e mail to 100club@gvs.org.gg or

·         calling us on 247518.

We know that many people would like to help GVS but are not in a position to volunteer for whatever reason. Others would like to support us because we have helped them, their friends or relatives in the past.  If you know of anyone who would be happy to support us by buying a ticket perhaps you could encourage them to join our club!

Also, if you know somewhere where we could leave some of the leaflets please let us know.   Remember as we sell more tickets, cash prizes will be added and more funds will be raised for GVS!

We hope you feel able to support the GVS 100 Club and GOOD LUCK!
