Blood Donor Calling

GVS volunteers telephone blood donors when they are needed by the Blood Bank. Volunteers telephone from the PEH on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings between 9.15 am and about 11.45 am. We have a team for each day and duties are on a rota basis, organised by the Team Leaders. It is up to each volunteer to decide how often they wish to do a duty - most people do a duty once every four weeks.

Trolley Shop 

A weekly trolley service is maintained at Le Grand Courtil which is an extra care home with tenants from the age of 18 plus. The duty lasts for a couple of hours with volunteers working in pairs. Some shopping is involved to 'top up' the trolley. If we have more than 2 volunteers wishing to volunteer, then a rota will be put in place.

Summer Show

GVS also mans a rest tent at the West Show for nursing mothers and the elderly. The tent is manned for the two days of the show on a rota basis in 2 hourly shifts.

Fundraising

GVS has to raise considerable funds each year to maintain our services so we try and organise various events during the year. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas and initiatives so if you can help with ideas or would like to join the team or even volunteer to help at an individual event please do not hesitate to contact us.
