Find out more

Because GVS operates in so many areas across the islands, there is a variety of roles that will appeal to the potential volunteer: regular duties such as a driver for older people, helping at The Russels or Jubilee Social Clubs, joining a Meals on Wheels team, or the occasional duty such as helping with the annual GVS flag day, assisting at one of our rest tents, or helping at a fundraising event.

If you would like to learn more please check out opportunities below.

All volunteers will need to complete one of our registration forms and supply a police clearance certificate.

Volunteer Opportunities

Meals on Wheels Drivers

We always need drivers to help on Meals in Wheels rounds. Please contact us for more information.

Drivers for the Russels and Jubilee Social Clubs

If you can spare some time to transport our elderly members to one of the centres, please get in touch.

Our 9 seater minibus can be driven with a standard car licence, so if you did not want to use your own car, or are happy to transport more than one person, this could be an option for you. We also have 12 seater minibuses for volunteer drivers with a D1 licence.

Voluntary Bathing Assistants

It’s all about making a difference to someone’s life. We all know that feeling when you have just stepped into the bath for a little soak and the week’s trials, tribulations and aches are eased, just for a while. Well, imagine that’s no longer possible, because you can’t physically get yourself into the bath or shower and you need a little help. The GVS can provide that little help. We have the use of a purpose-built bathroom at Le Grand Courtil with an electric chair to assist the bather into and out of the bath. If you would like more details of what is involved, please contact Denise Cohu at the Russels Social Club on 238055, Tue-Fri mornings.
